The Gunung Padang Pyramid Site In Indonesia
Archaeologists are exploring the Gunung Padang pyramid site in Cianjur, West Java, Indonesia, on May 12, 2024. Known as the ''mountain of enlightenment,'' Gunung Padang sits atop an extinct volcano and is revered as a sacred site by the local community. In 1998, it was designated as a national cultural heritage site. The site, dating back to at least 5,000 - 6,000 years BC, is thought to have been constructed for purposes of worship or astronomy.
