STORYLINE:
The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a heat wave warning on Thursday for northwest India, which includes the national capital region.
An increase of 3-4 degrees Celsius in maximum daily temperatures is anticipated across northwest and east India over the next four days.
Delhi National Capital Region (NCR) is already enduring sweltering temperatures of around 40 degrees Celsius, but the heat is expected to intensify to 45 degrees by Saturday.
IMD reports that western Rajasthan, western Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, and southern Haryana may face heatwaves from Thursday through Saturday. The government agency urged residents to take necessary precautions.
