Garden Tent-web Spider - Cyrtophora Cicatrosa - Animal India
Cyrtophora cicatrosa, commonly known as the garden tent-web spider or dome spider, is a species of orb-weaver found in many parts of Asia. It is a small spider with long legs and a green body with yellowish markings. Its web is very strong but lacks sticky fibers. The web is built in a three-dimensional and complex dome, commonly found between branches of thorny plants but can be seen almost anywhere. It is often found in gardens and has a very dense, thick, three-dimensional, and strong tent-like web. The dome is supported by many lines and forms a mountain shape in the middle. A chain of green bean-like egg sacs is also a common sight in these webs. This photo was taken in Tehatta, West Bengal, India, on May 24, 2024. (Photo by Soumyabrata Roy/NurPhoto)
