Cyclone Remal Damage
Trees sway in the wind following the landfall of Cyclone Remal, which cut the electricity supply to millions before losing intensity. Here and there, electric wires are dangerously torn down due to uprooted trees, and pedestrians walk past them as people cut the fallen trees to clear the road. Residents of low-lying coastal areas of Bangladesh and India surveyed the damage on May 27, 2024, as the intense cyclone weakened into a heavy storm, with at least four people dead, roofs ripped off, and trees uprooted.
