LGBTQ Pride In Colombo
People are taking part in an LGBTQ pride march in Colombo, Sri Lanka, on June 1, 2024. Homosexual activity has been illegal in Sri Lanka since the colonial era, and the laws are continuing to be enforced by police as of 2020. There are some efforts to decriminalize same-sex relationships, but these are being met with resistance. The government is stating that it would support a decriminalization bill, but no significant progress is being made. (Photo by Akila Jayawardena/NurPhoto)
