Sakela Ubhauli Dance In Nepal

Members of Nepal's indigenous Kirat Community are donning traditional dress and taking part in the ancient form of dance called 'Shakela' as they gather in a group to celebrate the festival of Ubhauli in Kathmandu, Nepal, on June 8, 2024. Kirant men and women clad in traditional attire are observing the festival by beating drums, cymbals, and imitating the activities of birds and other animals while exchanging greetings with each other. This festival is being celebrated by worshiping land and ancestors in hopes of getting better crops, health, and property. (Photo by Subaas Shrestha/NurPhoto)
