SOUNDBITE (Chinese): TAMDRIN, Restorer of the Archives of Xizang Autonomous Region
"My name is Tamdrin. I'm a restorer at the Archives of Xizang Autonomous Region. I have worked for more than 37 years. While restoring historical archives, I also work on restoring paintings and calligraphy works.
Of more than 3 million volumes of archives in our institution, over 95 percent are documented on Tibetan paper. The rescue and preservation of documents in Manchu and Mongolian languages is also a key national project. We have restored over a thousand items, including more than 300 imperial edicts and decrees.
The Tea Orchid drawing is a painting personally created by Empress Dowag
