Switzerland: Heavy Rainfall Causes Landslide And Flooding, Cutting Off Zermatt 4
Zermatt, a popular tourist destination in the southern canton of Valais near the Matterhorn mountain, has remained inaccessible as of Saturday, June 22. Heavy rain and melting snow caused the Mattervispa River to overflow, flooding roads, cutting off the village, and prompting evacuations.
The Matterhorn-Gotthard Railway announced on social media that they halted their services with no alternative transportation available.
