Historic Registan Square In Samarkand Uzbekistan
Night view of the illuminated Registan historical landmark of Samarkand was the heart of the city during the Timurid Empire located on the historic Silk Road, popular historic landmark and tourist attraction. The Registan public square with its three madrasahs in Persian architecture, from left to right: Ulugh Beg Madrasah, Tilya-Kori Madrasah and Sher-Dor Madrasah. Madras is the Arabic word for educational institute or Islamic School. Samarkand is listed as an UNESCO World Heritage Site as Samarqand - Crossroads of Cultures while on Samarkand was named the 2023 World Tourism Capital by the UN World Tourism Organization UNWTO.
