Toulouse: Spontaneous Gathering Against The Far-right Party RN Before The 2nd Round Of The Parlementiary Elections

A spontaneous gathering and march are taking place in Toulouse, France, on July 1, 2024, against Marine Le Pen's National Rally (RN) after the party made historic gains to win the first round of a parliamentary election. The RN is an anti-immigration, eurosceptic party. The RN and its allies are winning Sunday's round with 33% of the vote, followed by a left-wing bloc with 28% and well ahead of President Emmanuel Macron's broad alliance of centrists, who are scoring just 22%. The left and the far-left are unionizing in a new umbrella called 'Front Populaire' (i.e., 'Popular Front'). President Emmanuel Macron is calling a snap legislative election, to be held in two rounds on June 30 and July 7, after his centrist alliance was trounced by the RN in last Sunday's European Parliament ballot.
