Nepal's embattled Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal (R) and former Prime Minister and President of Nepali Congress Sher Bahadur Deuba (L) are extending their hands to shake upon Dahal's arrival at the Nepali Congress Headquarters in Lalipur, Nepal, on July 2, 2024. Nepali Congress and CPN-UML are striking a midnight deal on July 2, 2024, to form a new alliance, leaders from both parties are confirming. With this, the new government formed on March 4 is set to collapse. As per the agreement signed between Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba and UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli, an agreement of sharing one and a half year's tenure each is being reached between the leaders.
