Category 4 Hurricane Beryl lashed Jamaica with fierce winds and heavy rain as it brushed along the southern coast of the Caribbean island on Wednesday, July 3.
People living in flood-prone communities were evacuated due to forecast storm surge that could reach up to 6 to 9 feet above normal tide levels.
Prime Minister Andrew Holness declared all of Jamaica a "disaster area".
