US: Beryl Hurtles Toward Texas Bringing Life-Threatening Storm Surge And Hurricane-Force Winds 5
Beryl strengthened to a category 1 hurricane as it hurtled toward southeastern Texas late Sunday night, July 7, ahead of its forecast landfall in the early hours of Monday. Hurricane warnings were issued for portions of the Gulf of Mexico.
Update: At least four people were dead in the Houston area after Beryl made landfall near Matagorda shortly before 4 a.m. local time on Monday.
