Washington DC: Candlelight Vigil To Demand Justice In Bangladesh's Student Killings

A participant is tying a red cloth on his mouth and eyes while attending a candlelight vigil on the National Mall, Washington DC, USA, on August 03, 2024, to support the Anti-Discriminatory Students Movement in Bangladesh. In the vigil, attendees are condemning the government for killing innocent and underage students. They are also demanding that the current prime minister, Sheikh Hasina, who has been in power since 2009, step down. Initially, the student movement is starting to reform the country's quota system for government jobs. However, the protests are later resulting in bloodshed, with more than 250 people killed, the majority by law enforcement agencies. (Photo by Aashish Kiphayet/NurPhoto)
