Winds picked up in Ogasawara Islands Wednesday afternoon, August 14 as Tropical Storm Ampil approached. The storm is expected to get closest to the archipelago early evening to the evening. It is forecast to intensify into a typhoon as it keeps moving northward toward the Kanto region.
