Yasukuni shrine
A cross-party group of Japanese lawmakers visit Tokyo's Yasukuni shrine, seen by Asian neighbors as a symbol of the country's past militarism for enshrining war dead as well as the country's wartime leaders convicted as war criminals, on the 79th anniversary of Japan's surrender in World War II on Aug. 15, 2024.
