Interior Minister Lauri Läänemets summoned representatives of the Estonian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate (MPEÕK), to give an account of statements made by the churches' parent organization in Moscow. Bishops of the MPEÕK told the Ministry of the Interior that Russian Patriarch Kirill's statement, according to which Russia is fighting a holy war in Ukraine, has no bearing on the church's activities in Estonia.
