Panasonic to end 37-year Olympic sponsorship contract

A large Panasonic display is installed at a venue of the Paris Olympics in Paris on Aug. 7, 2024. Panasonic Holdings Corp. announced on Sept. 10 that it will discontinue its sponsorship agreement with the International Olympic Committee, ending its 37-year marketing tie-up with the event.

Panasonic signs sponsorship accord for Paralympics

TOKYO, Japan - Panasonic Corp. Panasonic to launch e-book reader on Aug. 10

OSAKA, Japan - Photo shows the UT-PB1, an e-book reader handset to be put on sale by Panasonic Corp. on Aug. 10, 2011. The Japanese consumer electronics giant said July 22, 2011, that the handset, with a price tag of 34,800 yen, can only be purchased via Panasonic's web store. The e-book reader has a 7-inch color liquid-crystal display, and is equipped with 16 kinds of applications such as e-mail and a camera.

Mitsubishi unit wins contract to supply power to MITI

TOKYO, Japan - Bidders submit their bids in a public tender invited by the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI) on Aug. 10 to supply electricity to MITI's main building. Diamond Power Corp., a wholly owned subsidiary of trading giant Mitsubishi Corp., emerged as the successful bidder. It was the first tender held since Japan liberalized large-lot power sales in March this year.
