A Framingham man faces charges after he allegedly shoots another man who tackles him at a pro-Israel protest in Newton on Thursday, Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan announces. The shooting happens around 6:40 p.m. at the intersection of Washington Street and Harvard Street. Speaking several hours later at Newton Police Headquarters, Ryan says a group of pro-Israeli demonstrators gathers on one side of Washington Street. Shortly before the shooting, another person walks down the opposite side of the street. ''Words are exchanged back and forth across the street,'' Ryan says. Ultimately, the person from the other side of the street ''comes very rapidly across the street and tackles one of the demonstrators.''
