Ten Statues Of Women Honoured At Paris 2024 Opening Ceremony Display At National Assembly - Paris

Ten statues of women honoured at the opening ceremony of the Games are on display at the National Assembly, Paris, France on September 19, 2024. Ten monumental statues representing women from the worlds of the arts, literature, sport and politics were created and honoured at the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games on 26 July. At the initiative of its President, Yaël Braun-Pivet, the National Assembly has the opportunity to welcome these ten statues of women to the Cour d'Honneur: Christine de PIZAN (1364-1431): poetess, the first woman to make a living from her pen; Jeanne BARRET (1740-1807) : explorer and botanist, first woman to circumnavigate the globe; Olympe de GOUGES (1748-1793): pioneer of feminism, playwright and drafter of the Declaration of the Rights of Women and Citizens; Louise MICHEL (1830-1905): teacher, writer, anarchist and feminist activist; Alice GUY (1873-1968) : director of over 300 films, first film producer; Alice MILLIAT (1884-1957): athlete and organiser of the first Women's World G
