French Farmers Launch Protests Against Mercosur Agreement - Velizy
Farmers stage a blockade on the RN118 road at the start of a nationwide protest against EU-Mercosur agreement with farmers feeling they have yet to reap the rewards of last winter's mobilisation near Velizy-Villacoublay, southwestern Paris, France on November 17, 2024. Farmers complain about excessive bureaucracy and low incomes, but they're also fed up with poor harvests, losses from emerging animal diseases and the prospect of signing a free-trade agreement with the Latin American countries of Mercosur (Brazil, Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay) that would create the world's largest free trade zone.
