Toulouse: Protest Against Gender Violences And Feminicides
A woman holds a placard reading 'In 13 feminicides, it will be Christmas'. Women from the collective NousToutes and other organizations such as SUD or Amnesty International organize a nationwide march in France against feminicides, sexual violence, and patriarchy. Several thousand people, women and men, take to the streets for this day. They demand more resources from the French government to protect women beaten, injured, or killed by their partners. They say that 65% of killed women come to the police to make a complaint, but police classify the complaints. They also ask for better police training to pay attention to these complaints. Feminist organizations demand at least EUR2.6 billion per year as necessary to tackle violence against women. In 2023, more than 270,000 women are victims of violence by their partners.
