Farmers Protest by Lighting Fires of Anger - France
A new "fire of anger" was ignited on the A61 motorway roundabout, and a combine harvester left behind during the previous action was concreted over. The fires of anger have reignited in the Aude region. This action, led by the FNSEA (Fédération Nationale des Syndicats d'Exploitants Agricoles, translated as the National Federation of Agricultural Holders' Unions) and the JA or FJA (Fédération des Jeunes Agriculteurs, translated as the Federation of Young Farmers), is one of many protests occurring across the country to criticize the future awaiting French farmers under the Macron administration (with the words "The Future After Macron" written in red) and to oppose the EU-Mercosur agreement. Farmers dumped several bales of hay before setting them on fire at a roundabout in Castelnaudary, France on December 13, 2024. Photo by Marie Hubert Psaila/ABACAPRESS.COM
