TOKYO, Japan, Dec. 26 Kyodo - A member of Japan Airlines' ground staff responds to passengers at Tokyo's Haneda airport on Dec. 26, 2024, after a cyberattack disrupted the company's systems. The attack began around 7:25 a.m. the same day, delaying at least 14 domestic flights and affecting some international flights. (Kyodo)

    OSAKA, Japan - A ceremony marking the opening of a common counter for Japan Airlines, All Nippon Airways and Japan Air System is held Sept. 20 at Kansai airport in Osaka. Similar counters, opened for passengers using shuttle flights between Tokyo and Osaka, were also set up at Tokyo's Haneda airport for flight reservations, ticket sales and other services. The shuttle flights were launched July 1 in an attempt to draw travelers away from Shinkansen bullet train service.

      Japan Airlines (JAL) stewardesses prepare small traditional gifts of money at Haneda airport in Tokyo on Dec. 16 to give passengers on New Year's Day, when they will wear kimonos on limited flights. JAL, whose stewardesses wore kimonos on New Year's Day in the past, had quit the custom in 1990 due to its review of in-flight services.
