Pongal Festival In Sri Lanka
Hindu devotees worship their god to celebrate the Pongal festival in Ayagama, Sri Lanka, on January 14, 2025. Pongal marks the start of the Tamil month Thai in mid-January and celebrates the arrival of the harvest season. It is primarily dedicated to worshiping the Lord Surya, as the Sun plays a crucial role in crop growth. Pongal is one of the most important festivals celebrated by Tamil people in Tamil Nadu and other parts of South India.
