The carnival of Dunkerque, traditionnal party part of the local culture took place on sunday march the 2nd . The Dunkirk Carnival is a colorful celebration that takes place every year between January and March. For several weeks, disguised “bandeurs” parade through the streets to the sound of brass bands, led by a drum major. Balls” enliven the evenings, while the high point is the throwing of smoked herrings from the town hall. The carnival is a unique celebration of Dunkirk's culture and festive spirit, with traditional songs, chapels (houses where the carnival-goers gather) and moments of collective jubilation.
