First Successful Ostrich Breeding In Jaipur Zoo

In Jaipur, Rajasthan, India, on March 19, 2025, male ostrich Mallikarjun attends to the newly hatched chick and incubating eggs at Jaipur Zoo. This marks Rajasthan's first-ever ostrich birth from eggs laid by Avantika, who mates with Mallikarjun. Under the expert care of senior veterinarian Dr. Ashok Kumar Tanwar and his team--Annu, Anjana, Lal Singh, and Bhim Singh--the chick is healthy and thriving. The remaining eggs are still under incubation, while both mother and chick receive specialized diet and medical attention. (Photo by Vishal Bhatnagar/NurPhoto)
