Rite at Ise Jingu shrine in central Japan
"Yamaguchi-sai," the first of a series of rites for the "Shikinen Sengu" ritual, or the construction every 20 years at an alternate site of a new "divine palace" hall at Ise Jingu shrine, is held at the shrine in Ise in Mie Prefecture, central Japan, on May 2, 2025, to pray for the safety of logging trees for timber for the new hall.
