Displaced People in Goma - Congo
Displaced people are seen near the iron-sheet shelters near a former camp for internally displaced persons on the outskirts of Goma, the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), May 6, 2025. Camps for internally displaced persons on the outskirts of Goma, the capital city of North Kivu province in the eastern DRC, have been gradually dismantled since the rebel group known as M23 announced its capture of Goma in January. Many of the occupants there now have to live in iron-sheet shelters near their former camps, facing severe hardships such as food shortages, lack of clean drinking water, and unsanitary conditions.
