Demonstration Outside Le Scouarnec Trial - Vannes
Demonstration in support of victims at the courthouse on the sidelines of retired surgeon Joel Le Scouarnec's trial in Vannes, northwestern France, on May 28, 2025. Former surgeon Joël Le Scouarnec who has been on trial since the end of February for alleged rapes and sexual assaults on some 299 victims, stated on May 26, 2025, that he is not asking for "any leniency," just the right to "a share of humanity," before the criminal court of Morbihan withdrew to deliberate. On May 23, the Attorney General requested a sentence of 20 years of criminal imprisonment against him, accompanied by a series of security measures due to "very high risks of recidivism."
