Indefinite Strike of Lifeguards Continues in Barcelona - Spain

Several people protest during the indefinite strike of lifeguards in Barcelona, in front of the PSC headquarters, on August 4, 2025, in Barcelona, Catalonia (Spain). Since August 1, 2025 the lifeguards of Barcelona's beaches have been on indefinite strike, called by the CGT union, in the middle of the summer high season. The protest is directed against the concessionaire of the service, FCC Medio Ambiente, contracted by the Barcelona City Council, and denounces an "absolute precariousness" in the working conditions of both lifeguards and sanitary technicians, nurses, crew members and boat skippers.
