Forest Fire Burns 13000 Hectares - France
Handout photo gathered on August 8 shows a member of the Protection Civile helping an elder getting medical help following exposure to a forest fire in the Aude region of France, near Saint-Laurent-de-la-Cabrerisse, on August 5-7, 2025. The blaze, first reported active on August 5, remained uncontrolled for more than 48 hours despite the deployment of over 1,000 firefighters and several Canadair aircrafts. By August 8, it had swept across more than 16,000 hectares, burning 13,000 of them, and caused one death and 18 injuries. Authorities have since reported that the fire is under control, though it remains active. Photo by Laetitia Peltier/Protection Civile via ABACAPRESS.COM
