Wildfires in Canakkale - Turkey

A wildfire that began in agricultural land near Sarıcaeli village in Canakkale province in Turkey spread into a nearby forest and forced authorities to temporarily suspend ship traffic through the Dardanelles (Canakkale) Strait. The Dardanelles (also called the Canakkale Strait) links the Aegean Sea to the Sea of Marmara and is a key route for vessels transiting between the Mediterranean and the Black Sea.
