One Dead and More than 5,000 People Evacuated as Fires Ravage Leon - Spain

Scorched earth in a mountain between Villalís de la Valduerna and Quintana y Congosto, after a fire, on August 13, 2025, in Quintana y Congosto, León, Castilla y León (Spain). The forest fire affecting León and Zamora has caused the death of a volunteer who was collaborating in the extinguishing work, in addition to more than 10 injured. Some 5,400 people from 25 villages have been evacuated to protect lives, and strong winds have hampered firefighting efforts, causing the fire to spread rapidly.
