Spain: Lightning-Sparked Wildfire Rages in Jarilla, Extremadura
Storms with over 700 lightning strikes sparked a wildfire in Jarilla in the province of Cáceres, Extremadura on Tuesday, August 12.
The fire burned out of control spreading toward the nearby municipalities of Villar de Plasencia and Cabezabellosa, due to difficult terrain and strong winds.
Overnight, it forced the confinement of Oliva de Plasencia and the closure of 25 kilometers of the A-66 highway.
