More than 158,000 hectares burned by fires in Galicia in August, according to Copernicus

The Forest Fire Information System of the European Copernicus program brings to 158,101 hectares of surface area destroyed by fires in Galicia so far in August. Thus, according to updated data from the system, the area affected in the province of Ourense is already 154,969 hectares, 3,550 hectares more than 24 hours ago. Meanwhile, the rest of the provinces remain without significant changes: 1,346 hectares in Pontevedra, 1,175 in A Coruña and 611 in Lugo. Nationally, Copernicus estimates that, so far this year, 403,171 hectares have burned in Spain and the vast majority burned in the month of August.
