Genoa for Gaza torchlight procession promoted by Music for Peace in support of the boats that will depart from the port on the morning with aid for the Palestinian population in Gaza, on August 30, 2025, in Genoa,Italy. Activists, including Swedish campaigner Greta Thunberg, are departing Barcelona for Gaza as part of the Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF), a self-described "nonviolent humanitarian mission responding to the ongoing genocide and siege against the Palestinian people." The flotilla, which will be joined by others launching from various locations on September 4, includes activists, seafarers, doctors, and artists from over 40 countries. Thunberg and other crew members of a flotilla that attempted to reach Gaza after departing Italy in June were intercepted by Israeli forces and deported back to their countries of origin.
