On September 2, 2025, in Yunnan, China, a large section of the G215 National Highway between Shangri-La and Daocheng Yading collapsed. The landslide with the large amount of soil and rocks, which created massive clouds of dust, has left vehicles stranded and the road completely impassable, burying the highway in seconds.

The tremors were also felt in neighboring regions including Daocheng County under Ganzi Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture of Sichuan. This video captured by a local shows billowing clouds of dust along the slope of a mountain as the earthquake struck. Alarm sirens can be heard. There were no immediate reports of casualties or damage released by the local government.
