Jamaica: Aftermath of Hurricane Melissa
Hurricane Melissa, a Category 5 storm, slammed into the coast of Jamaica near the city of Black River on Tuesday, October 28. The storm caused what the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) warned would be a "catastrophic" situation, leaving roughly 140,000 people cut off across the island. Approximately 25,000 tourists remained in Jamaica as recovery efforts began.
