Trade curbs on all eels rejected
The parties to the Washington Convention, a treaty regulating the international trade of endangered species, hold a plenary session in Samarkand, Uzbekistan, on Dec. 4, 2025. A proposal by the European Union to put all eel species, including the Japanese eel, under global restrictions, was formally rejected during the session.
