Indoor "Milky Way" at Tokyo Tower

TOKYO, Japan - Tokyo Tower launches an annual "Milky Way illumination" event at the observatory 150 meters above ground on June 1, 2012, in which 24,000 LED bulbs mimic the Milky Way. As visitors enjoyed a combination of a night view of the Japanese capital and the illumination's reflection on the windowpane, a Tokyo Tower official said, "You don't get to see this Milky Way from Skytree," referring to Tokyo Skytree, the landmark tower that recently opened, creating a rivalry with Tokyo Tower.

Marunouchi Oazo is new face of JR Tokyo Station

TOKYO, Japan - An aerial photo of Marunouchi Oazo, a commercial complex just north of JR Tokyo Station, which opened on Sept. 14. The complex, consisting of five buildings, is built on the 24,000-square-meter former site of the headquarters of the defunct Japanese National Railways. Oazo means 'oasis' in Esperanto.
