Nintendo's new game console Wii hits U.S. shelves

NEW YORK, United States - Jubilant shoppers show off their Wii videogame system, Nintendo Co.'s new next-generation console, which hit U.S. store shelves on Nov. 18 before its debut in Japan on Dec. 2. Nintendo made 400,000 units available for the first day of sales at a per-unit price of $244.99, or 29,000 yen, hoping to sell 2 million units by the end of the year.
