Nissan to release 1-liter hatchback for emerging economies

TOKYO, Japan - This sketch photo shows a 1.0-liter compact car which Nissan Motor Co. will launch next March to tap demand in emerging economies like China, India and Southeast Asian countries. Nissan said on Oct. 1 it plans to start marketing the compact car next March in Thailand, where it will assemble the model.

TOKYO, Japan - Toyota Motor Corp. and affiliate Daihatsu Motor Co. on June 7 launched a new compact car model (photo) produced through the first joint development project for the Japanese market between the two companies. Toyota's dealerships across Japan are selling the car as the Passo and Daihatsu's are selling it as the Boon. The lineup of the new model features 1.0-liter and 1.3-liter engines, with prices set between 945,000 yen and 1,302,000 yen.
