Dud disposal in Fukushima Prefecture

FUKUSHIMA, Japan - A dud bomb makes a splash as it is disposed of in Onahama port in Iwaki, Fukushima Prefecture, on Nov. 10, 2010. The Maritime Self-Defense Force safely deactivated the 1.2-meter-long dud, which was found on the seabed at a depth of 7.5 meters on Oct. 4.

1.2-meter long iguana found on street in Fukuoka Pref.

FUKUOKA, Japan - Photo shows a green iguana that was found on a street in the city of Kasuga, Fukuoka Prefecture, by a nearby resident on Sept. 10. Police are treating the iguana, which is 1.2 meters long and estimated to be five years old, as a lost-and-found case, and transferred it to the Fukuoka municipal zoo until its owner comes forward.

This 1.2-meter-long salamander is found on the bank of the Kamogawa River in Kyoto on May 16. A walker found the amphibious animal and informed the police. In Japan, the salamander is registered as a protected species. It was released later in the day upstream near Ohara in the northern part of Kyoto City.
