Maruyama signs sponsorship deal with Softbank

TOKYO, Japan - Shigeki Maruyama (C) and Masayoshi Son (R), the head of a leading computer software and services company Softbank Corp., shake hands at a Tokyo hotel on Jan. 9 after reaching a basic agreement on a sponsorship deal worth 450 million yen. The three-year deal is the first venture into the sports field for Softbank, which hopes to sign another 10 or so young golfers to sponsorship contracts. The company has reportedly budgeted about 50 million yen a year for the project.
