Toyota Motor Corporation's Special Mobility for the Tokyo Olympics

On April 18, Toyota Motor Corporation unveiled to the press the APM (Accessible People Mover), an electric vehicle (EV) specially designed for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games. The APM will be used to transport the elderly, parents with infants, wheelchair users, spectators and athletes around the venue. The APM is an open-type vehicle with doors removed on both sides and can accommodate up to six people, including the driver. It is designed to be easy to get in and out of and easy for volunteers to drive. A ramp is stored under the floor, and the center seat can be folded to allow wheelchair access. The vehicle measures 3.9 meters in length, 1.6 meters in width, and 2 meters in height, has a maximum speed of 19 kilometers per hour, and can travel 100 kilometers on a single charge.
