China: Trained Detection Dog Swims Wearing Custom Space-Style Helmet in Guangxi

On November 13, 2023, in Guangxi, located in southern China, a video showed a diver swimming underwater with a trained dog. The dog wore a specially customized helmet resembling a space suit. The helmet was designed to make underwater movement more comfortable. Together, the diver and dog moved smoothly beneath the surface. The dog was described as a trained narcotics detection dog. The video showed it performing confidently both on land and underwater.

Japan: Hay Fever Alert Issued as Mass Pollen Dispersal Expected to Peak Nationwide

As of February 16, the start of cedar pollen dispersal has been confirmed in parts of the region stretching from Kyushu to Tokai. By late February, dispersal is expected to begin across a wide area ranging from Kyushu to southern Tohoku. In Shizuoka Prefecture specifically, cedar pollen began dispersing in early February 2026; total volume is expected to reach 1.9 times the average of the past 10 years. Thick pollen is visible in the video, creating hazy conditions across the mountain range.

Spain: Storm Pedro Blankets Northern Regions in Heavy Snow

A total of 13 autonomous communities are under warning for powerful gusts, hazardous coastal conditions, and snowfall as Storm Pedro moves across the peninsula. Snow is expected above 700 meters in the Cantabrian Mountains and the Pyrenees, with significant accumulations at higher altitudes. Rolling thunderstorms and strong winds swept across California as the season’s coldest storm dumped heavy snow on the Sierra Nevada. The heavy snow created dangerous backcountry conditions, and a large avalanche near Truckee killed at least eight skiers. Ski areas around Lake Tahoe reported significant totals, with more than 40 inches of new snow in 24 hours.
