Nikkei ends at 6-week high above 9,000

TOKYO, Japan - An electronic signboard in Tokyo's Yaesu district shows the Nikkei Stock Average's closing at 9,092.76, up 167.72 points, on Aug. 16, 2012. The Tokyo Stock Exchange's benchmark index ended at a six-week high -- and above 9,000 -- as a weakening yen and improved U.S. economic prospects prompted buying of export-related auto and high-tech shares.
