Japan: Level 5 Alert Issued as Torrential Rains Trigger Flooding, Landslide in Kanto Region

Torrential rain pounded a wide swath of the Kanto region in eastern Japan on Friday, July 17, bringing record-breaking downpours to Gunma and southern Tochigi prefectures as well as heavy rain in Tokyo, Yokohama and Kawasaki. The Japan Meteorological Agency issued its highest-level "emergency safety" evacuation order for some areas. A landslide in Ashikaga, Tochigi Prefecture, collapsed a building and left three people unaccounted for.

US: School Buses Torched Near NYC Port Authority as Knicks Celebrations Turn Violent

Chaos erupted overnight Saturday into Sunday, June 14, as fans celebrated the New York Knicks' NBA championship victory. Five school buses were set on fire or destroyed with bats near the Port Authority Bus Terminal. There was also a shooting report where a 17-year-old boy was shot during celebrations, and 63 people were arrested.

China: Sudden Road Collapse Swallows Car in Baotou, Inner Mongolia

On May 17, 2026, in Baotou, Inner Mongolia, a video captured a dangerous scene as vehicles were moving along the road when drivers suddenly noticed that a large sinkhole had opened up ahead. A car in front appeared to have no time to stop and fell directly into the deep hole with the people inside. The collapsed section covered a large part of the roadway, creating a frightening hazard for passing vehicles. Local authorities later responded that no casualties had been reported. Footage ended with the vehicle disappearing into the pit.

Several tornadoes, including an EF3, ripped through Mississippi on Wednesday, May 6, spawned by supercell thunderstorms and triggering a tornado emergency. Governor Tate Reeves confirmed that 17 people were injured and more than 300 homes were damaged across several counties, with no deaths reported. This video shows the damaged area in Bogue Chitto, Lincoln County, which was flattened by the tornadoes.
