The Museum of the Holy Souls in Purgatory - Rome

The ‘ Museum of the Holy Souls in Purgatory’ housed in a room of the small neo-Gothic church of the Sacred Heart of Suffrage (Chiesa del Sacro Cuore del Suffragio) in Rome, Italy on March 5, 2025 is one of a kind in the world as it pretends to offer undeniable proofs of the existence of Purgatory. - - Pictured: Imprint of three fingers left in 1871 on the prayers book of Maria Zaganti by deceased Palmira Rastelli (who died in 1870) to solicit Masses of suffrage for her memory. - The tiny century-old ‘Piccolo Museo Del Purgatorio’ holds a collection of bibles, prayer books, tabletops, and articles of clothing said to have been singed by the hands of souls in purgatory. The very unusual collection was commissioned by French missionary Victor Jouet following the events of 15 November 1897, when a mysterious fire broke out in the Rosary Chapel, in which the altar painting was spared. Unprecedented rains over the past two days have severely impacted several southern districts of Tamil Nadu, where water has inundated low-lying areas and severely affected road connectivity, officials said. According to Stalin, over 4 million people have been marooned due to flooding. He said Tirunelveli and Tuticorin districts of the state had witnessed historic rains since 1871. Hakoda Bugyosho restored after around 140 years

HAKODATE, Japan - The restored building of Hakodate Bugyosho (Magistrate's Office) is unveiled to the media in Hakodate, a port city in southern Hokkaido, on July 16, 2010. The office, built in 1802 at the end of the Edo Period by the Tokugawa shogunate as an outpost to check Russian moves, was destroyed in 1871. Work to restore the office began in June 2006 and cost 2.8 billion yen, and it will open to the public on July 29.

Antique gold coins to be sold

TOKYO, Japan - Photo taken in May 2000 show a 20 yen gold coin issued in 1906. The Finance Ministry said Sept. 24 it will sell 32,683 old gold coins issued between 1871 and 1932 in a manner to be determined by a study panel so as to minimize the adverse effect on the market for antique coins. Proceeds from the sale will be brought into the ministry's general account.
